Corporate & Portfolio Update: Chris Paton, Chief Investment Officer

In some wonderful news for our almost 100,000 investors^, stellar portfolio performance allows investors in our 12 Month Term, 2 Year and 4 Year Accounts to enjoy a higher rate of return on their hard-earned wealth from 1 April:

  • Investment rates are at a decadal high, driven by the ongoing health of our investment portfolios
  • $1.1bn in new loan settlements for February – a new peak
  • Our new US Private Credit product for wholesale investors passing the $150 million AUM milestone

Economic Update: Michael Watson, Head of Distribution

Four years on from the first COVID lockdown in Australia, a range of economic stressors have been worked through, and continue to be worked through.  As we look forward, we do so with cautious optimism for the period ahead:

  • Inflation is falling from peak, with unemployment still stubbornly low
  • GDP growth remains positive, albeit subdued
  • Increasing central bank interest rates are appearing to have a positive effect on productivity

Credit & Property Market Update – Lilian Chin, Head of Client Partnerships

After a few years of some extreme real estate and credit market movements, 2024 is shaping up for modest growth.

  • Total credit being written in the market is tilting back towards longer-term trends
  • The residential property market is still forecast to grow in 2024 thanks to demand vs supply mismatches.
  • There is likely to be some divergence in outcomes across capital cities.
